About Us
About Us
Just like the best Game Masters (GMs), Gygax, Mercer, Perkins etc., we strive to make our role playing game more about fun and gameplay than the rules. We play a homebrewed mix of Pathfinder 1st. Ed. and Dungeons & Dragons 3.5. If you don't want to have to learn all the rules and regulations and instead play for the joys of role playing your favorite class of adventurer, then our club is for you. Nothing needed to start but you! Our GM currently runs games outside USCL, with players with experience ranging from over 30 years to a few months.
Game Play Information
We run occasional how-to and learning games to bring new players up to speed so that they are, hopefully, not going to get killed by the first angry field mouse that they come across.
For the past year we have played both single games and started a campaign. We had fun watching as the cleric blew herself up and the ranger got eaten.
Generally, we don't have evil Player Characters (PCs) in the campaigns, but we are open to most things in the one-shots. There are restrictions on a few races (no flying or burrowing), and only those in the core rule book/race guide/advanced race guide are generally picked from. Making a new PC can take as little as 30 mins or as much as a couple of hours; it all depends on your choices. If you want to play an Elf Wizard, a Catfolk Rogue, a Dwarf Barbarian, or even a Human Bard, all options are there. By playing homebrew you can really specialize your character to suit who and what you want to be, but please be aware that you will be part of a group of adventurers so being able to work/play together is very important.
RPG Gaming Consent Form
If you'd like to play, then here is an informed consent checklist to fill in. Please bring it with you when you either meet to make a character (optional as your PC can be made using the chat room in our Discord channel) or to your first gaming session.
Extra Stuff We Do
Learn to GM: At some point in the future there will be an opportunity to have a sit down with our GM to discuss the wonderfully stressful world of running a game as the GM yourself. Last summer, one of the current members had the chance to join in as the GM themself and had a great time nearly killing the whole group, but they managed to escape in the nick of time and even ended up finding a treasure trove with some magical items.
Paint Miniatures: We also have painting sessions with an experienced miniature painter who comes in and gives instructions and helps the group paint their own miniature PCs. This will be happening regularly and members will be able to participate in a paint and take of a new PC mini for themselves.
